Nicki is an illustrator and designer based in Manchester in the UK, where she lives with her husband and two children. Nicki spent her previous career in communications working in television, events and marketing, as well as in graphic design. She found her way back to art after taking a career break when having her second child and has been obsessed with illustration and children’s books ever since. Nicki loves to create loveable and engaging characters and especially enjoys exploring the relationship between parent and child, finding inspiration from her own children. She believes that every child should see themselves represented in books and is an advocate for diversity in children’s literature. She works mainly digitally but loves to experiment with traditional materials and textures. She’s also a practising calligrapher and likes to incorporate hand-lettering into her illustrations.

Working as a graphic designer in both agency and as a freelancer, Nicki has delivered design for brands including Deloitte, British Fashion Council, The Christie and Chinese Centre for Contemporary Art (even picking up a few awards along the way). She left agency life to work directly with businesses creating branding and providing website design.
